Several stabilization methods for the rapid stabilization of PDEs under controllability assumptions exist in the literature, but few allow for the actual computation of feedback. Backstepping is one such method. However, it has two notable drawbacks: the need to compute eigenfunctions associated with the differential operator and the limitation of the backstepping method to one-dimensional PDEs. We will present recent works in which we overcome these two problems by introducing a spectral projector into the target system. We will present the application of this method to the heat equation.
